Saginaw ISD is excited to announce its participation in the PreK for All initiative, offering FREE PreK to families in the community. Beginning in the fall of 2024, all Michigan four-year-olds will qualify for free, high-quality PreK education, available through Saginaw ISD.

What is PreK for All?

PreK for All is part of a larger statewide effort supported by Governor Whitmer’s MI-Leap initiative, designed to expand access to early childhood education. This initiative builds upon Michigan's highly successful Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) and the Great Start to Quality Program, both of which have consistently narrowed achievement gaps and prepared children for long-term success. The goal is to ensure that every child in Michigan, regardless of their location or family circumstances, has access to free, full-time, high-quality PreK, with a priority on families who need it most.

Research shows that attending a quality PreK program, like those offered through GSRP, can have a lasting positive impact on a child’s development and future academic performance. Children who attend PreK are better prepared for kindergarten and beyond.

What This Means for Families:

  • Free Early Education: Four-year-olds who turn 4 by December 1 qualify for free PreK, saving families an average of $10,000 a year.

  • Quality Learning: Michigan’s PreK program is ranked #1 in the nation for quality.

  • Social Skills: Children develop essential skills like sharing, taking turns, and cooperation.

  • Kindergarten Readiness: Early exposure to math, science, and reading helps children absorb important skills during a critical time for brain development.

Program Highlights:

  • 4- or 5-day options

  • Before and aftercare

  • Transportation provided
