Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) proudly celebrates the leadership of Mark Lyons, Program Director of Instructional Technology & STEM Integration, as he takes on the role of Chair for the REMC Instructional Technology Specialists (RITS) group. This statewide network consists of approximately 60 professionals dedicated to supporting Michigan educators through instructional technology coaching, professional learning, and the meaningful integration of educational tools in classrooms.
Mark has been an integral member of RITS since 2012 and has consistently demonstrated his commitment to enhancing education through technology. Saginaw ISD had the opportunity to host a RITS meeting last spring, where leaders and specialists from across Michigan gathered to collaborate on innovative strategies to support students and educators. Now, as Chair, Mark will play a pivotal role in guiding this group toward new initiatives that strengthen technology-driven learning across the state.
“This recognition is a testament to Mark’s passion for instructional technology and his commitment to ensuring that educators have the tools and support needed to create engaging learning environments,” said Dr. Erin Senkowski, Deputy Superintendent of Instructional Programs at Saginaw ISD. “His leadership at the local, regional, and now state level continues to make a lasting impact on Michigan learners.”
The RITS group is a key component of the REMC Association of Michigan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving teaching and learning through collaborative leadership, equitable access to technology, and cost-saving initiatives for schools statewide. As Chair, Mark will facilitate collaboration among instructional technology specialists, coordinate statewide professional development opportunities, and help implement forward-thinking strategies that enhance digital learning experiences.
“I’m honored to represent Saginaw ISD in this role and excited about the opportunities this leadership position brings,” said Lyons. “RITS plays a vital role in shaping the way technology supports student learning across Michigan, and I look forward to working with colleagues to develop new ideas and best practices that benefit educators and students alike.”
Beyond his work with REMC and Saginaw ISD, Mark’s contributions to education extend into community service and advocacy. He co-founded All Music Is Power, a nonprofit program that provides interactive music experiences for students receiving special education services, and he serves as a Chapter Leader for Makers Making Change, an initiative focused on developing affordable assistive technology solutions.
Mark’s election as Chair of RITS is a well-deserved recognition of his leadership, expertise, and dedication to enhancing learning through technology. Saginaw ISD celebrates this achievement and looks forward to the positive impact his leadership will have on students and educators across the state.
