Saginaw County Public School Districts

For the 22nd year, AT&T volunteers stuffed 100 backpacks for students served by Saginaw Intermediate School District and their 12 public school districts on September 1, 2022.

The packs included folders, paper, pencils, and other essential school supplies. Superintendents from the local school districts were gifted the backpacks by AT&T "Pioneers" along with Senator Ken Horn, who represents Michigan's 32nd district. "This makes a big difference in the lives of our students, and having school supplies is one less worry for our parents," said Mark Whelton, Bridgeport-Spaulding Community School District Superintendent.

The superintendents will then work with their district's counselors to assess the need of their students to help choose who the backpacks go home with. "We are thankful Saginaw ISD had the opportunity to host every single superintendent in our local public school districts today, not only for an informational and collaborative meeting, but to have our community come together to support our kids, that will now feel more confident and prepared for class with brand new supplies," said Coty Kuschinsky, Chief of Staff and Communications Supervisor for Saginaw ISD.

About the AT&T Pioneers

“AT&T Michigan Pioneers are active company employees and retirees who volunteer their personal time to enhance the communities where they work and live,” said David Lewis, president of AT&T Michigan. “And year in year out, they do an amazing job of leading this ‘Tools for Learning’ campaign by raising money and buying supplies to support thousands of students heading back to school through the state.” AT&T Pioneers plan to distribute more than 2,000 backpacks across Michigan this fall.
